‘He’s a great player,I will love to play with Him’: Bruno Fernandes admits he would ‘love’ Man Utd to sign ‘top quality’ 19-year-old talent before Man City will highjack the deal

Bruno Fernandes has shared his verdict on Manchester United target Joao Neves while the two are on international duty together.

Manchester United have been accelerating their efforts to recruit a midfielder in January or next summer amid the crisis in the position this season.

Casemiro has been injured and below-par while Sofyan Amrabat and Christian Eriksen haven’t quite worked either. This has left United targeting a new breed of midfielder, namely Joao Neves.

Portuguese wonderkid Neves is a player many have accepted is set to be among the next generation of world-class midfielders. Currently playing for Benfica, United have scouted Neves which makes him the current front-runner to be signed.

Now, Neves’ international teammate and current United captain Bruno Fernandes has given his verdict on whether Erik ten Hag’s side should sign the 19-year-old.

Fernandes gives verdict on Neves
Fernandes was speaking with Sport TV Portugal when he was asked about United’s recent scouting of Neves.

He then explained: “I would love to have him at United, he has top quality! But it’s João choice…”

Bruno then continued: “He’s a great player but it depends on the coach’s ideas! He will have a great future, in United or somewhere else”.

Fernandes clearly would be keen on seeing Neves join the club which will only add fuel to the fire which is building around the potential move.

Joao Neves to Manchester United transfer likelihood
The thing about this link is that every day it seems to get stronger and stronger, which would indicate there is something in it, there’s no smoke without a fire they say.

Neves’ arrival would potentially signal the end of Casemiro’s time at United, given his recent struggles and the fact he is the perfect profile for a Saudi side to come in for.

Neves is an excellent footballer and his talent and potential are limitless, he is the type of midfielder we would regret missing out on.

While signing the likes of Amadou Onana is probably better short term, Neves has a much higher ceiling, even if patience is required for him to reach it.

Safe to say if this is the first recruitment of United’s new footballing structure, we are off to an excellent start.
