‘He’s like Tigger’: Aaron Ramsdale says Arsenal summer signing ‘wants to say yes to everything’
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has deemed Gunners summer signing Matt Turner “like Tigger”.
The Arsenal first-choice stopper, speaking to Peter Crouch on BT Sport’s Around the Block, says his deputy is very eager to learn.
And Ramsdale has welcomed this, as it “picks you up” on days where he’s a bit tired.
Turner joined Arsenal for a reported £7.5m as second-choice behind Ramsdale, and has made one appearance so far.
The 28-year-old started for the Gunners in the 2-1 Europa League win over FC Zurich on 8 September.
Turner is also featuring regularly for the United States, and started against Japan and Saudi Arabia in the last international break.
On BT Sport’s Around the Block YouTube show, Ramsdale spoke to Crouch while the two were driving around.
And the Arsenal ace compared Turner to Tigger, the Winnie the Pooh character known for his enthusiasm.
“We’ve got the lad Matt Turner from America,” said Ramsdale. “He’s like Tigger!
“He’s like a classic American almost where… he just always wants to do everything, he wants to say yes to everything.
“It’s great because there’s days where you’re a bit tired. And when you’ve got him who’s new to the club, it picks you up.”
A good addition to the Arsenal dressing room
Turner hasn’t had much of a chance to show what he can do at Arsenal just yet.
Admittedly, he looked a bit shaky on his debut in the Europa League win over FC Zurich.
And for the United States, Turner has delivered some mixed performances.
Nonetheless, he’ll surely come good, as he’s so eager to learn, and seems like a great addition to the Arsenal dressing room.
