‘Huge talent’: Gabriel Martinelli says Arsenal have a 19-year-old youngster who is genuinely brilliant
Arsenal have just four matches left to play before the World Cup begins.
Mikel Arteta will be hoping his side can carry their exceptional start to the season into the second half of the campaign.
One of his bright stars, Gabriel Martinelli, has been speaking to the press ahead of tonight’s match against FC Zurich.
Martinelli has been brilliant in the Premier League, and has firmly established himself as Arteta’s first choice left winger.
That hasn’t stopped Arteta from also using his in the Europa League this campaign.
One player that Arteta has given an opportunity to in Europe to rest the likes of Martinelli is Marquinhos.
The 19-year-old Brazilian arrived from Sao Paulo, and has already made his impact on the first team.
Martinellli has now admitted that he thinks Marquinhos is brilliant, and has been so impressed by the youngster.
Marquinhos scored on his Europa League debut against tonight’s opposition, and will be hoping for another opportunity today.
Martinelli thinks Marquinhos is brilliant
Martinelli was asked about his Brazilian counterpart, and whether he’s said anything to help him.
“What I can do for the boys I will do, I try to help as much as possible,” Martinelli said.
“I always try to say to him to be yourself, and do what you know because we’re both here because of our talent.
“You need to believe in yourself, so he needs to keep doing it because everyone at the club knows that he has a huge talent.”
Marquinhos has already had three appearances in Europe this season, and made his Premier League debut against Brentford.
He’s already impressed Eddie Nketiah, who has called Marquinhos ‘really talented’.
Marquinhos still has plenty to learn, with Arteta shouting at him against Bodo/Glimt as he wanted him to be more alert.
Arteta clearly has plenty of faith in the 19-year-old, otherwise he wouldn’t be part of the first-team set-up.
Martinelli also thinks Marquinhos is brilliant, and the pair could line-up alongside each other for Arsenal for years to come.
