Arsenal have been linked with Sweden international Viktor Gyokeres in recent weeks.
For instance, Ben Jacobs recently told CaughtOffside that the Gunners are “one to watch” with regards to pursuing the Sporting Lisbon ace in 2024.
Now, Gyokeres‘ manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that interest in his player from the likes of Arsenal could be distracting the forward.
On Monday night, Gyokeres scored his 10th Primeira Liga goal of the season – and 17th in all competitions – as Sporting ran out 2-0 winners over Porto.
Speaking after the game, Amorim commented on reports linking the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea with the 25-year-old attacker.
“I think he’s improved the team, the fans like him a lot,” A Bola quoted him as saying.
“We have to look at the other side: today there’s talk that Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in him.
“He was in England, right next to them, in the Championship. Sporting have improved Gyokeres and Gyokeres has improved Sporting, he’s brought a new energy.
“[Interest from other clubs] It affects all players, I can feel it sometimes in Inácio, I can feel it in other players and Viktor is no exception.”

Arsenal could certainly do with bringing in a proven goalscorer to the Emirates Stadium in 2024.
Gabriel Jesus is obviously a world-class player but he’s not the most prolific scorer.
Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah is a decent back-up but hasn’t quite forced his way into regular starting contention.
Meanwhile, Gyokeres has hit the ground running in the Portuguese capital following his move from Coventry City for a reported £20million.
However, Arsenal – or indeed Chelsea or any other suitors – won’t be able to land him for cheap any time soon.
With Gyokeres reportedly having an £86million release clause in his contract (which runs until 2028), Sporting hold pretty much all the cards in negotiations.
