Pundit Robbie Earle has now shared his belief that Declan Rice has been the best player in the Premier League at Arsenal so far this season.
Earle was speaking on ‘The 2 Robbies’ podcast and said Rice would win the award at Arsenal were the season to end here
The pundit described Rice as ‘excellent’, a player he expected to succeed at Arsenal.
Earle said: “You talk about Declan Rice, he’s my halfway player of the season and I did say at the start of the season, he might be up there.
“He’s been excellent for them.”
Of course, very few Arsenal fans would disagree with that view, a midfielder who is the club’s strongest signing in recent history.
It’s still understated how much pressure Rice was under to succeed following the £105m move.
However, such is his talent, Rice has shown absolutely no sign of nerves or doubt in his game, even when playing in a new role as a number eight.
Alongside William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, Rice is part of an incredibly strong spine of this Arsenal team, one they haven’t enjoyed since the heights of the Arsene Wenger era.

Despite having recruited Rice in the summer, Arsenal are still often linked with the signing of a new midfielder in January.
Douglas Luiz and Ruben Neves are two names often mentioned.
However, it does still seem as if the solution may already exist in one of Arsenal’s impressive youngsters.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta does envision Rice playing as a number six or eight in the long-term.
The decision will have a big influence on Arsenal’s plans in the transfer market.
Moreover, Thomas Partey’s fitness and future will also play a huge part.
Perhaps Earle could have been naming Partey alongside Rice at Arsenal were he able to maintain his availability for long-periods.
It is quite remarkable to think that Arsenal are achieving all of their success without the Ghanaian, a player who has been so crucial.
And that should be testament to Rice’s growing influence.
