Reports suggest that Man united star Jadon Sancho’s desired move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq fell through due to Manchester United’s insistence on including a £50 million obligation-to-buy clause in the deal.
Sancho’s future has been uncertain after a public disagreement with Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, over training standards. A potential move to Saudi Arabia was discussed, given that their transfer window remained open until Thursday.
According to the Daily Mail, Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq had expressed interest in a loan deal for Sancho, who had been signed by Jordan Henderson earlier in the summer. However, the proposed move fell apart because Manchester United demanded a £50 million future sale obligation, a sum reportedly deemed too high by the Saudi club.
Sky Sports has reported that discussions between the player, club staff, and management are scheduled during the international break, with a shared commitment to improving Sancho’s performance.
So far this season, Jadon Sancho has made three appearances, all as a substitute. His omission from the squad against Arsenal was attributed to his training performance, according to Ten Hag. In response, Sancho released a statement on social media, expressing his belief that he was being made a scapegoat.
Meanwhile, former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has joined Ipswich Town. After making 37 senior appearances for the Reds, he was released by the club in the summer. Previously, Tuanzebe had been on loan to Aston Villa, Napoli, and Stoke City.
Although there were reports of talks with Real Betis in Spain and discussions with Sheffield United and Luton Town, Tuanzebe ultimately chose to reunite with former Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna at Portman Road.
