Arsenal have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong in recent months.
Earlier this month, the Gunners were said to have earmarked Frimpong as a major transfer target for next year.
According to Football Transfers, Arsenal reckon the 23-year-old would be an improvement on Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu at right-back.
Indeed, Mikel Arteta and Edu have apparently earmarked Frimpong as a ‘specialist right-back’ who could provide cover in midfield too.
Better still, the same outlet then reported that the Netherlands international favours a move to Arsenal ahead of the likes of Manchester United.
Frimpong has been strongly linked with a move away from Bundesliga leaders Leverkusen in the summer.
This is when a €40million (£34million) release fee in his contract will reportedly be activated.

Frimpong has gone from strength to strength since joining Leverkusen in 2021, having previously shone at Celtic and also being on the books at Manchester City.
The 23-year-old has made 20 appearances this season for the Bundesliga table-toppers, registering an impressive six goals and nine assists.
Frimpong’s overall record for the club reads 115 appearances, 17 goals and 29 assists. He also has one cap for the Netherlands, which he picked up in October 2023.
The Bundesliga website compared his style of play to that of Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco star Achraf Hakimi.
‘When his teams are in possession, Frimpong behaves like a right winger rather than a right-back,’ they wrote.
‘He has the pace to eat up ground in the final third and boasts a keen eye for a decisive pass.
‘He doesn’t shirk his defensive duties, though, his acceleration the fuel for some rocket-propelled recovery challenges.’
The website also carries quotes from football figures who have worked with Frimpong, and give an insight into what a top talent he is.
Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes said: “He’s technically strong, incredibly fast and is an attack-minded player. He has huge potential.”
Meanwhile, former Celtic boss Neil Lennon said: “I’ve never seen a better kid than him.
“The quality of his play, the pace of his play, the end product. His fitness levels are incredible, I think that the fans have really taken to him.”
All in all, Frimpong looks like a great shout for Arsenal, though the likelihood is such a move would take place in the summer rather than the January window.
