‘I have no doubts’: Zinchenko claims Arsenal teammate is going to be absolutely amazing when PL resumes
Alex Zinchenko has thrown his support behind Eddie Nketiah as he seeks to replace the injured Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal.
Jesus picked up an injury at the World Cup with Brazil which requires surgery and will keep him out for an extended period.
That is awful news for Arsenal but it is the break that Nketiah has been waiting for after signing a new contract in the summer.
Zinchenko told Arsenal’s official website he thinks that Nketiah will do an absolutely amazing job of filling the void.
Zinchenko backs Nketiah
He said: “I have no doubts that Nketiah is going to do his job amazingly and everyone trusts him. We have such a great group of people. We have this feeling of togetherness.
“I’m just trying to do my job as well as I can. On the pitch, I am giving my one hundred percent. The fans have welcomed me so warmly at this club. I can’t be grateful enough for everything they have done and the support I’ve received from them.
“What I’ve seen in the past, if you have the right attitude and the right behaviour on and off the pitch, you can’t be tired physically. You can be only tired in the head – everything is coming from your head.
“If you do all the things right in your routine – your sleep, your food, look after yourself well -and you do everything to prepare your body fresh. If you do everything right, you can’t be tired physically.”
What an opportunity this is for Nketiah. If he can score the goals to keep Arsenal in the title race, his status at the club will ramp up.
Arsenal must have faith in him to give him a new contract in the summer when all the signs were that he was going to leave on a free transfer.
Arsenal get their season back underway against West Ham on Boxing Day and a goal for Nketiah would silence a lot of the chatter around him right now and get his confidence through the roof.
