Manchester United played out a 1- 1 draw vs. Chelsea at Old Trafford. Here are our player ratings from the game.
(A score of 6 is around average)
Andre Onana 5 – Some poor kicks. Almost put the team in trouble when he failed to hold on to the ball from a Chelsea set-piece but made amends soon after.
Diogo Dalot 6 – Quietly went about his duties, nothing to rave about. Silenced the tricky Pedro Neto.
Matthijs de Ligt 6 – Did his job. Vital block to deny Cole Palmer’s shot from troubling Onana. Wasn’t at fault for Moises Caicedo’s equaliser.
Lisandro Martinez 6 – Improved display back at centre-back.
Noussair Mazraoui 7 – Brilliant at left-back. United’s best player in the first half and picked up where he left off after the break. Got forward whenever he could and was technically sound.
Manuel Ugarte 3 – Poor. Bossed by Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo. His passing was reckless at times and got the ball pinched from him on multiple occasions. Just didn’t seem to be in sync with the fast pace of the game.
Casemiro 6 – Seems to be doing much better in recent games. Some of his tackles and interceptions were very crucial. Also tried to get involved in terms of moving the ball forward.
Bruno Fernandes 8 – Sent the Chelsea goalkeeper the wrong way for the penalty for his first Premier League goal of the season. Nice cross-field ball for Rashford’s attempt.
Alejandro Garnacho 4 – Wasteful again. Had a very good chance to give United the lead but fluffed his lines. Reece James was very comfortable against him. Got a stern dressing down from Casemiro for failing to track back.
Marcus Rashford 6 – Hit the bar just before the break. Looked better on the left than on the right. Tried to take on his man at times.
Rasmus Hojlund 6 – Excellent center-forward play to win the penalty. Had another shot but was denied by Robert Sanchez. Some of his passing was erratic.
Substitutes
Amad Diallo 5 – Didn’t provide as much attacking impetus as he usually has been from the bench. Needs to be starting games.
Victor Lindelof 5 – Got United over the line.
Joshua Zirkzee 5 – Nice run but it didn’t amount to much as he lost his footing.
