Emile Smith Rowe has labelled one Arsenal teammate the GOAT on social media following their performance on Sunday as the Gunners beat Liverpool at the Emirates.
Arsenal blew the title race wide open with a 3-1 victory over the Premier League leaders. It was a game Mikel Arteta could not afford to lose. But the belief they will gain from the win will be huge.
Arteta made a couple of big selection decisions ahead of the clash. Kai Havertz was picked up front. Meanwhile, Jorginho was picked alongside Declan Rice in the middle of the park.

Jorginho has not tended to be a regular starter for Arsenal. So some may have been concerned about how he would get on against Liverpool’s attacking players.
But Jorginho was arguably the best player on the pitch against the Reds. The Italian was exceptional. Declan Rice labelled Jorginho’s performance unbelievable.

Another inspired signing from Mikel Arteta and Edu
Mikel Arteta deserves enormous credit, not just for picking Jorginho on Sunday, but for signing him in the first place.
Few could have foreseen how good an addition he would prove to be. He was one of a number of Chelsea players who had been poor in the months before he made the move to the Emirates in January 2023.
Jorginho is never going to be the superstar of the Arsenal side. But he is someone Arteta can clearly put his full trust in. He never lets the team down. And that makes him just as valuable as those who often steal the headlines within the Gunners’ ranks.
Certainly, there are absolutely no doubts about whether Arsenal made the right move signing the midfielder.
