The £64 million (BBC Sport) Denmark international striker found the back of the net after only 37 seconds when he pounced on Amari’i Bell’s error to round goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski and score.
The 21-year-old made it 2-0 to Erik ten Hag’s side in the seventh minute when he instinctively diverted Alejandro Garnacho’s shot into the net.
It was the sixth successive Premier League game in which Hojlund has scored, and Newcastle United legend and BBC Sport pundit Alan Shearer was impressed.
Shearer said about Hojlund on The Rest is Football podcast: “You know what? He showed great character. He really has. He has never stopped. His attitude has been superb, and now he is getting his rewards for that. Six games on the spin.
“I thought he was brilliant today. I thought his hold-up play, apart from his two goals, I mean, his second one was a really clever finish, really clever, it was brilliant, I mean, there was no fluke about that at all, he knew what he was doing, where he was and what he had to do, but take away his two goals, I thought every other part of his game, I thought was excellent today.
“He led the line well, he worked his socks off, he brought people into the game because Luton basically went man for man at times.”
My View: Rasmus Hojlund could help Manchester United get into top four
Rasmus Hojlund is finding his form in the Premier League at just the right time for Manchester United.
The Red Devils are now back in the race for the UEFA Champions League places in the league table this season.
In my opinion, Hojlund will be a key player for Erik ten Hag’s side in their quest to get back into the UEFA Champions League.
United are only five points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. They are winning matches, and Hojlund is scoring goals.
