“I love you…” – Arsenal star sends heartfelt message to fans after making contract decision

Arsenal star has sent a heartfelt message to fans following the news that he will extend his contract at the Emirates.

Elneny’s deal was due to expire in the summer, with many fans thinking he had played his last game for the club.

The Egyptian is currently sidelined with a knee injury which could see him miss the rest of the season, as per reports.

Despite Mikel Arteta hinting at a contract extension earlier this month, stating that ‘the club ‘has to behave in the right way’, many still feared his time was up in north London.

However, the Gunners confirmed Elneny had signed a new deal on Tuesday, keeping him at the club until June 2024, subject to regulatory processes.

The contract will take the 30-year-old into his eighth season at the Emirates, after being signed by Arsene Wenger from Swiss giants Basel in 2016.

He is currently the longest serving player at the club and will be hoping to add to his 155 Arsenal caps in all competitions.

The midfielder has since taken to social media to share his love for the club he calls “home”.

He tweeted: “A new chapter begins in my journey with Arsenal. I just signed a new contract.

“Arsenal for me isn’t just a club I joined 7 years ago, which makes me the longest serving player currently. Arsenal is home, family, happiness, growth, and ambition. My Arsenal family, I love you.”

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed it was an easy decision for the midfielder, despite interest from abroad.

He told CaughtOffside: “It wasn’t a difficult choice for Elneny, despite interest from clubs around Europe.

“Elneny had approaches from Italy, Spain and Turkey, but Arsenal was always his priority.”
