‘I Really wants us to meet them in quarter final,to show them who we really are’: Jamie Carragher says there’s one team he really wants Arsenal to draw in the Champions League
Arsenal lost to Porto in the Champions League this week, and while this defeat does hurt the Gunners, there’s always a silver lining to be found.
Indeed, while Champions League elimination would be less than ideal, the north London club would be allowed to focus wholly on their league form if they were to exit Europe early.
Speaking on The Redmen TV, Jamie Carragher has been discussing Arsenal’s Champions League hopes, and he says that, from a Liverpool perspective, he actually wants Arsenal to stay in the competition and draw Manchester City in the next round in order to take a bit of focus away from both teams in the league.

The pundit shared his verdict on these two teams.
“Do you think that will help us in the league them being in the Champions League and stuff like that?” Carragher was asked.
“Yeah, the problem is that I think they are so much better than everyone in the Champions League, maybe Real Madrid. I’m desperate for them to get Arsenal in the next round if Arsenal get through. I think it would be great for us if they played in the quarters. I know it’s playing an English team, but it takes a lot out of you, the press attention is so much greater and then there’s a blow for one of them to go out,” Carragher said.
Ideal for Liverpool
Carragher is spot on, this draw would be ideal for Liverpool.
A media frenzy around a Champions League game is exactly what Liverpool would want as it would perhaps lead to both teams taking their eyes off the ball in the Premier League.
It only takes one or two bad results to turn the title race in the Reds’ favour, and perhaps a tough Champions League draw like this could help the Merseyside club towards glory.
This would be ideal for Liverpool, but Arsenal need to beat Porto in the second-leg before we even start thinking about this.
