‘I so much love him’: Jose Enrique says Arsenal player is ‘very underrated’ after Liverpool showing
Jose Enrique says Gabriel Martinelli is ‘very underrated’ for Arsenal after his showing against Jurgen Klopp’s all-action Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The former Liverpool left-back added on Twitter that he ‘loves’ a player like Gabriel Martinelli and what he produces for his Premier League title-chasing team.
Even though the 21-year-old had a bit of a blip after the World Cup, ever since he netted during Arsenal’s 4-2 win at Aston Villa in February, he has not looked back and been one of his side’s best players.
He has scored seven goals during that period and provided his team with two assists – including scoring and assisting as Arsenal drew 2-2 with Liverpool.
Over the course of the season, Martinelli has an impressive 14 Premier League goals to his name and four assists, which is some going for an unknown £6 million signing from Brazil in 2019 (Goal).
Nonetheless, following Liverpool and Arsenal’s thunderous showdown at the weekend, Enrique was full of praise for Martinelli.
“Very underrated player,” said Enrique. “Love him. Top talented player and he works so hard offensively and defensively.”
MARTINELLI’S RISE
When Martinelli first joined Arsenal, he arrived as a fresh-faced teenager from the lower leagues of Brazil.
Edu Gaspar played a huge part in his arrival, and now that transfer is looking like a genius move.
Not only is he a Brazil international, but he is also close to hitting 20 Premier League goals in a single campaign, yet he is only 21.
