I want Him back in my current club: Unai Emery now wants to reunite with one of his old Arsenal players at Aston Villa
Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers both want to sign Dani Ceballos as he nears the end of his Real Madrid contract.
Ceballos is set to become a free agent in the coming months and looks poised to leave Real.
Estadio Deportivo report that Ceballos is now listening to offers from two Premier League clubs – Villa and Wolves.
It’s noted that managers Unai Emery and Julen Lopetegui – two Spaniards – are both very interested in Ceballos.
Ceballos has allegedly already received an offer from Atletico Madrid but has rejected a move to Diego Simeone’s side.
Ceballos seemingly doesn’t want to betray Real Madrid by joining their bitter cross-city rivals.
That opens the door for a Premier League move and it looks like a Midlands battle is emerging between Villa and Wolves.
UNAI EMERY HAS ALREADY SIGNED DANI CEBALLOS ONCE
Arsenal fans may be interested in this rumour given that Ceballos was signed by Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners pounced to sign Ceballos on loan from Real back in the summer of 2019.
Emery praised Ceballos as a ‘very good player’ ahead of his move to Arsenal having rated him in Spain for many years.
The pair didn’t have all that much time together in the end though as Emery was sacked by Arsenal in November.
More than three years on, Emery is now keen to sign Ceballos again.
That may sound like a boost for Aston Villa but Ceballos does also have history with Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui.
Lopetegui briefly managed Ceballos at Real Madrid, with the midfielder admitting that the now-Wolves manager gave him so much confidence.
Both Emery and Lopetegui now want to reunite with Ceballos, giving the midfielders plenty to think about in the coming weeks.
