“I want him to replace Antony” Erik Ten Hag now personally wants £34.5m Portuguese player to join Man united before transfer DEADLINE DAY
Manchester United’s biggest area of concern at the moment is the left-back position following injuries to both Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, but it seems the Red Devils are looking to make changes at the opposite flank.
Football Insider claim United are in the market for an attacking right-back and are exploring the possibility of swapping Aaron Wan-Bissaka for Nelson Semedo. They are already understood to be in touch with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wan-Bissaka, who was signed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in a move reported to be worth £50m, has been a solid defensive outlet ever since he arrived in 2019.
However, there have always been question marks over the former Crystal Palace man’s ability going forward.
Accordingly, United have set their sights on the former Barcelona full-back who is very good at using his pace to get behind compact backlines.
Considering how little time the West Midlands club would’ve to find Semedo’s replacement in the event they sanction his departure, United have offered Wan-Bissaka in a swap deal to sweeten their proposal.
The Portugal international, who earns £84,000 a week at the Molineux, has done well at Wolves, and in an ideal situation, Gary O’Neil would retain his services beyond the close of the transfer window. O’Neil has started Semedo in the opening three Premier League fixtures.
Still, his exit is a real possibility as Wolves have to sell more in the coming days to ensure they stay on the right side of financial fair play calculations.
