‘I’d love him at Arsenal’: Laura Woods left annoyed after finding out £80m player is ‘likely’ to join Chelsea over Arsenal this summer
TalkSPORT host and Arsenal fan Laura Woods has shared her frustration at rumours Brighton’s Moises Caicedo could join Chelsea this summer.
Moises Caicedo, who’s just enjoyed a fantastic season at the Amex Stadium, is now linked with a potential move away from the Seagulls.
According to The Guardian last week, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are all interested in signing Caicedo. They noted it could take as much as £80million for Brighton to part ways with their midfield star, though.
TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has now provided an update on Caicedo that has frustrated Woods.
He described it as “likely” that Chelsea win the race to sign Brighton’s 21-year-old star, which may be bad news for any Arsenal supporters that wanted him at the Emirates Stadium.
When asked how likely Caicedo is to join Chelsea, Crook told talkSPORT: “I think it’s quite likely actually.”
Woods responded: “I just hope Caicedo doesn’t go to Chelsea because I’d love him at Arsenal.”
In our view, Caicedo was one of the Premier League’s very best midfielders in the 2022/23 season. Therefore, we understand Brighton putting a huge valuation on his head, especially because he’s aged 21 and still has four years left on his contract.
He’s definitely the sort of individual that could help revamp and fix the Chelsea midfield at Stamford Bridge
Our worry is how poorly the Blues have spent big in the most recent transfer windows, but we do like everything we see from Caicedo as an athletic and technically sound defensive midfielder.
Arsenal will feel they had the last laugh when they lost out on Mykhailo Mudryk and he joined Chelsea in January. Could history be about to repeat itself with Caicedo?
