Piers Morgan has urged Arsenal to re-sign Granit Xhaka if they cannot bring in another ‘enforcer’ in midfield this month.

Arsenal fans are hoping their club will be active in this month’s transfer window. The Gunners could do with reinforcements in several areas of the pitch, and midfield is definitely one of them as they are really missing Xhaka.

Piers Morgan tells Arsenal to re-sign Granit Xhaka
Granit Xhaka spent seven years as an Arsenal player before leaving the club last summer.

The midfielder went through a lot at the Emirates. He was even enemy number one at one stage but then turned his career around to the point where Arsenal fans began singing his name every week

Xhaka left the Gunners and moved to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of £21.4 million (BBC) last year. He is having an amazing time there.

On the other hand, Arsenal miss him – not just because of his quality as a player but also because he was never afraid to stand up for his teammates.

After the Gunners submitted a complaint to the PGMOL over the rough treatment received by Bukayo Saka recently, Piers Morgan urged Mikel Arteta to sign a midfield enforcer like Patrick Vieira or Roy Keane. If not, he wants the North Londoners to re-sign Xhaka.

He tweeted yesterday: “Embarrassing. Instead of whining about tough tackles, we need to sign a Vieira/Keane style enforcer who will dish it out even harder… or get Xhaka back.”

Arsenal really miss Granit Xhaka
Granit Xhaka was one of Arsenal’s best players last season.

The Swiss midfielder was up there with the best box-to-box midfielders in the country, and he was integral to the Gunners’ success on the left side of the pitch.

Kai Havertz has been asked to play that role now, and although the German has done well over the last two months, he just isn’t offering what Xhaka did last season.

That is affecting the performances of Gabriel Martinelli and Oleksandr Zinchenko, which is why Arsenal have struggled in attack this term.
