Arsenal are reportedly open to selling Cedric Soares during the January transfer window.
According to The Mirror, the Gunners will listen to offers for the 32-year-old defender, who continues to struggle for game time at the Emirates Stadium.
With Cedric‘s contract expiring at the end of the season, Arsenal seem happy to let him go six months earlier, suggested the report.
Cedric has been at Arsenal since 2020, when he joined the Gunners from Southampton on an January initial loan deal before signing on a free transfer in summer.
The Portugal international has made 60 senior appearances for Arsenal to date, but just one has come this season, a three-minute cameo in the Carabao Cup.
Indeed, Cedric’s only start this season has been in the EFL Trophy, featuring alongside the Gunners Under-21s in the group win over Exeter City.
Cedric Soares all-but guaranteed to leave Arsenal in 2024
The Portuguese defender has been a ‘fantastic‘ servant for the Gunners and Mikel Arteta has often been impressed with his attitude.
Cedric is not a player who gives up easily, and there have been several instances where he looked like he was done at Arsenal, only for him to bounce back.
However, the Arsenal he joined is different from the Arsenal of today.
The Gunners have elevated themselves from a mid-table side into title contenders in the time the £75,000-a-week (Spotrac) man has been on the books.
With competition so fierce, the stakes so high, and his contract expiring soon, Cedric is all-but guaranteed to leave the Emirates Stadium in 2024.
Whether this will be in January or in the summer remains to be seen. However, there will no doubt be clubs in England and across Europe that will snap up such a good – and available – player.
