‘I’ll just cane him’: Jack Grealish promises he’ll be slating one Arsenal player if he ever becomes a pundit
Jack Grealish has promised to TalkSPORT that he’ll be slating one Arsenal player if he ever becomes a pundit – and that’s Bukayo Saka.
The Manchester City star has joined up with the England squad ahead of the tournament in Qatar over the next month.
Saka is training alongside Grealish as well, with the preparations for England’s opener against Iran on Monday in full swing.
Grealish has been talking to the media ahead of their World Cup campaign and has joked that if he ever went into punditry, he would slate Saka.
Grealish promises he’ll be slating Saka
Grealish spoke to TalkSPORT and managed to drag Saka into the interview, who then spoke about the picture of him on an inflatable unicorn during last year’s Euros.
The Arsenal star spoke about the famous picture of himself before leaving Grealish to carry on with the interview.
The City winger was then asked if he would ever consider a career in punditry after he hangs up his boots.
And Grealish delivered an hilarious response about his England teammate.
“I’ll only be presenting if B [Bukayo Saka] is still playing and then I’ll just cane him,” he said.
The pair clearly have a good relationship and it’s great to see the England squad in high spirits ahead of the World Cup.
Plenty of former players have turned to punditry after retirement and Grealish seems like he could be a good fit for the role.
Although he may not get the chance to criticise Saka too often, especially if he continues on his current trajectory.
The 21-year-old has become a key player for Arsenal under Mikel Arteta. His side currently sit above Grealish and City at the top of the Premier League table.
Both players will be hoping to get the nod on Monday as Gareth Southgate’s men kick-off their bid to lift the World Cup.
There’s stiff competition for places on the wing, with Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden competing for a place in the side.
