‘I’M COMING BACK TO HURT THEM’: ’Incredible’ player Arsenal sold for NOTHING could now join Tottenham Hotspur to take his REVENGE against Arsenal

Former Arsenal goalkeeper could be tempted by a move to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, according to 90min.

FORMER ARSENAL GOALKEEPER EMILIANO MARTINEZ COULD BE TEMPTED BY TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

90min have reported that Tottenham are considering a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Martinez despite the Argentina international goalkeeper being a former Arsenal player.

Described as “incredible” by former Chelsea and Aston Villa central defender John Terry on beIN SPORTS in December 2022, the 30-year-old goalkeeper is reportedly on Tottenham’s shortlist.

90min have added that “Martinez could be tempted by a move to Tottenham”, claiming that the former Arsenal goalkeeper “would ideally prefer to be playing Champions League football”.

Tottenham are in a very good position to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season and are actually playing in the UEFA Champions League this campaign.

POTENTIALLY CONTROVERSIAL TRANSFER

Now, this could be a potentially controversial transfer.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are bitter North London rivals.

It would take a brave player these days to turn out for both teams.

Martinez could not make a massive impact at Arsenal over a number of years, but he has flourished since his move to Aston Villa, winning the 2021 Copa America and the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina.

The 30-year-old hardly played for Arsenal until his final season at the North London club when he got the chance due to injury to Bernd Leno.

However, once Leno got fully fit, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta decided to reinstate the German as his number one goalkeeper.

And Martinez left for Premier League rivals Villa in a £20 million (The Guardian) deal.

Leno has since left Arsenal, and Aaron Ramsdale is now the number one between the posts for the Gunners.
