‘I’m hearing’: Arsenal now ready to overpay to sign ‘special’ forward in January; Edu is in negotiations – journalist

Arsenal are prepared to find some common ground when it comes to signing Joao Felix this month, with a deal looking increasingly likely.

Along with Mykhaylo Mudryk, Felix is seen as one of the main targets for Arsenal to sign during the window. The Portuguese forward has fallen down the pecking order at Atletico Madrid, with a move away in January likely.

As we know, Arsenal are one of the main clubs interested. And speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Dean Jones has claimed that a deal for Felix could happen, with Arsenal ready to accept they might need to pay a bit more.

“I’m hearing that Arsenal are going to try to negotiate with Atlético over João Félix. They will try to find some common ground over the loan fee and accept that they might have to overpay compared to a typical loan fee,” Jones told GMS.

“It might be worth it because this is a fantastic chance to win the league and they can’t watch it pass by without exploring everything.”

Felix scored a goal for Argentina in the World Cup but has been largely underwhelming since Atletico paid more than £100m to sign him. However, with Arsenal sitting top of the table, there is a belief that Felix is the sort of player who can help them over the line.

Our View: Felix could shine for Arsenal

Sometimes all a player needs is the right environment and team to do the business. For whatever reason, Felix hasn’t quite found that in Madrid.

But Arsenal could be a different kettle of fish altogether. Mikel Arteta is building something special and a young group of players might well be what Felix needs to succeed and shine.

Sure, he’d have to battle for his place. But his quality is undeniable and Arsenal would be a better squad for signing Joao Felix.
