Kieran Tierney‘s loan spell at Real Sociedad has come to an end, and the left-back is now set to return to Arsenal this summer.

However, his future at the club remains uncertain, with Arsenal reportedly open to discussing a new deal or considering offers for a permanent transfer.

Tierney joined Real Sociedad on loan last summer and made 27 appearances for the La Liga club. Despite a positive farewell to the Basque supporters after their final league game which secured Europa League football, Tierney is now heading back to Arsenal, where his contract runs until 2026.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal are set to discuss a new contract with him this summer.

The 26-year-old’s time at Arsenal has been hampered by injuries since his €27m move from Celtic in 2019. However, his recent call-up to Scotland‘s preliminary Euro 2024 squad demonstrates his continued value as a player.

Tierney was the seventh Arsenal player to be included in a provisional squad for the upcoming tournament. He is expected to face Germany‘s Kai Havertz in Scotland‘s opening match on June 14.

Arsenal‘s decision regarding Tierney’s future will likely depend on their summer transfer plans and whether they receive any attractive offers for the left-back. A new deal could be on the table, but a permanent transfer is also a possibility and seems a more likely option.
