Enzo Maresca will be forced to make at least two changes to the Chelsea starting line-up to face Liverpool. The Blues return to Premier League action this weekend for their first fixture after the October international break.
Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in their previous fixture, and Maresca will have to make two changes to the previous team he named at Stamford Bridge.
Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella will be suspended for the clash against Liverpool as they serve one-match bans.
Both defenders received their fifth yellow cards of the season in the draw with Forest, and will not be available in the Premier League until Chelsea face Newcastle on October 27.
As a result, Maresca may turn to Tosin Adarabioyo to start at centre-back in place of Fofana. The defender has started just once in the Premier League for Chelsea this season since his summer move from Fulham, but that could change when the Blues travel to Anfield this weekend.
Renato Veiga could also start at left-back in place of the suspended Cucurella. Veiga made his international debut for Portugal during the international break and has made eight appearances for Chelsea since arriving from Basel.
Reece James could be in contention to feature for Chelsea on Sunday after returning to training this week. However, the Blues captain has been sidelined with injury all season so far and Maresca will be cautious of not rushing him back too soon.
Jadon Sancho has also enjoyed an impressive start to his Chelsea career following his move from Manchester United, while Noni Madueke has been one of the stars of the season so far. Maresca also has Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, Pedro Neto, and Mykhailo Mudryk as forward options should he wish to make further changes from the team that drew with Forest.
Potential Chelsea line-up vs Liverpool: Sanchez; Gusto, Adarabioyo, Colwill, Veiga; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Sancho; Jackson
