Arsenal

I’m so happy for Him – Marcus Rashford says He’s happy that His best friend have agreed to join Arsenal

Kieran Gibbs says Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal ‘aren’t messing’ as they close in on a club-record transfer deal for West Ham United captain, Declan Rice.

It has been a little long-winded, with the fright that Manchester City might come swooping in, but Declan Rice is expected to be an Arsenal player pretty soon after they agreed on a £105 million deal with West Ham United, as reported by Sky Sports.

Former left-back Gibbs stated that the 24-year-old is a ‘phenomenal’ player and he is someone that is going to have a ‘great start’ once his move is confirmed, as he told ESPN.

Previously, Jack Grealish, who left Aston Villa for Manchester City for £100 million, was the British record transfer, but that is now set to be broken by his fellow countryman.

Added to that, it will also smash Arsenal’s club-record transfer which is currently held by Nicolas Pepe, who will, no doubt, be glad that cloud will be removed from above his head given his struggles.

Nonetheless, ahead of Rice’s move to north London, Gibbs expressed his delight and how his former side mean business in the transfer market and their quest to win the Premier League title.

“I just love to see the club being so bullish on transfers,” said Gibbs. “They aren’t messing about and fair play, it’s something that has bothered the fans for a long time seeing other clubs invest far more into their squads and it’s just good to see, it means they mean business.

“Declan is a top, top player, for me. The price is the price. That’s just where we are with the market. I am under no illusion that it’s a really strong signing.

“That’s a marquee signing. It needed to happen. I am really happy he has joined. He is a phenomenal talent. He leaves everything on the pitch. A front-line player and I think he is going to have a great start.”

Rice has to hit the ground running

It has been known that Granit Xhaka will leave Arsenal this summer, as the club’s former captain has been pivotal in Arsenal’s rise in recent times.

But added with him, Thomas Partey could also leave, which would see a big change in the club’s midfield.

If that’s the case, then it puts more pressure on Rice, who can’t afford to start slowly, or else, it could affect Arsenal’s performances.
