Manchester United defender move to West Ham United could well be back on if reports from England are to be believed.
According to Alan Nixon, of The Sun, the East London side have reopened talks with United over the signing of the English centre-back as they are keen to strike a deal with the Red Devils.
According to the report, however, David Moyes’ side remains a long way off from securing a deal for the former Leicester City defender.
Maguire hasn’t featured for United this season so the logical decision would be to negotiate the defender’s exit from the club so that Erik ten Hag’s side could reinvest those much-needed funds.
West Ham prepared to pay more for Maguire
According to The Guardian, the reason that the deal to take Maguire to West Ham fell through was because of the wages that the English defender was owed and, due to the Hammers being unwilling to wait for United to negotiate his exit, Moyes’ side pulled out of the deal.
Well, according to The Sun, West Ham are considering offering more money to United so that the Old Trafford side can sort out the compensation for the defender so that a move could occur.
This would be a big boost for the Red Devils and a move for a centre-back could well be on the cards as a result.
United’s late transfer dash
If Maguire’s move to the London Stadium is resurrected, United could receive £30 million for the Englishman, they would then have enough for a replacement. The replacement, you would expect, would be Jean-Clair Todibo from OGC Nice.
With Dean Henderson potentially heading to Crystal Palace on a permanent deal, according to The Athletic, United could add more funds to the coffers to try and sign another midfielder.
Gianluca Di Marzio, on Friday, claimed that United are ‘insisting’ on Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat and you do wonder if that has something to do with the Old Trafford side receiving funds from somewhere.
