‘In the next few hours’: Arsenal hold new talks for “stunning” signing literally in the last few hours

Fabrizio Romano has shared a fresh update regarding Arsenal’s efforts to secure a transfer deal for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.

THE LOWDOWN: ARSENAL’S INTEREST IN MUDRYK

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Ukrainian in recent weeks and have even had a bid rejected for him.

The bid was reportedly worth £55m, with Shakhtar apparently looking to get around £85m for the 21-year-old, who has been hailed for his “stunning” efforts in the Champions League this season by members of the media.

With the January transfer window now close to opening, a significant update has emerged regarding the north London club’s pursuit of Mudryk.

THE LATEST: ARSENAL IN FRESH TALKS FOR MUDRYK

In a Twitter post on Thursday morning, Romano dropped some fresh comments from Shakhtar’s CEO, Sergei Palkin, about the negotiations between them and Arsenal over Mudryk.

“Now, literally in 5 minutes, I will have a new phone call conversation with Arsenal for Mykhaylo Mudryk deal.”

In a following post, Romano added these extra comments from the Shakhtar boss.

“Talks for Mudryk are on. We receive offers but not the ones we would like to see on our table. I’ll speak again to Arsenal so yes, we are open to discuss fee and ideas. If we will agree, then let it be so. If we will not, then let it be another time.”

THE VERDICT: FINGERS CROSSED AT ARSENAL

Having been dealt an initial setback in their pursuit of the winger by seeing their opening bid rejected, the fact that the Gunners have not given up trying to sign him and have been in talks once again with Palkin shows just how eager Edu and Mikel Arteta are for this deal.

And bearing in mind that the youngster has scored ten goals and delivered eight assists in 18 appearances this season across all competitions, it’s easy to see why Arsenal are keen to add him to their ranks.

Also, with Gabriel Martinelli being the only predominant left-winger in Arteta’s squad, acquiring the services of Mudryk would give the Gunners some extra strength and depth in that area.

Moving forward, it’s safe to say that everyone connected to the north London club will have their fingers crossed that a deal can be made for the winger in the coming days.
