TalkSPORT host Andy Goldstein was shocked after Jack Wilshere picked Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale in his preferred England XI for the World Cup.
Gareth Southgate announced his squad for the big tournament in Qatar yesterday, and he has called up three goalkeepers – Everton’s Jordan Pickford, Newcastle United’s Nick Pope and Gunners number one Ramsdale.
Wilshere believes the Arsenal man is the best of the lot.

Jordan Pickford has been England’s number one for a long time now, and that’s unlikely to change at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
Southgate is a huge fan of the Everton man, who has almost always performed brilliantly at international level.
Wilshere, however, believes Ramsdale should be England’s number one. He claimed that the Arsenal star is the best out of all three of Southgate’s goalkeepers with the ball at his feet.
Host Goldstein just couldn’t believe what he was saying. Here’s how their conversation went on talkSPORT last night.
Goldstein: “Who’s your goalkeeper?”
Wilshere: “Ramsdale.”
Goldstein: “What?”
Wilshere: “Ramsdale!”
Goldstein: “Jack, come on!”
Wilshere: “You’re asking me for my team, I want a team that can play out from the back and the key player is the goalie in that. He’s the best one with his feet, that’s a fact.”
Goldstein: “Do you think Ramsdale’s England’s number one?”
Wilshere: “Yes. Don’t you?”
Goldstein: “No, I think Pickford’s been outstanding in an England shirt.”
Our View:
This is a debate that will go on for as long as Southgate is the England boss. However, he’s not wrong to pick Pickford, is he?
The Everton man has been sensational in an England shirt. He was one of the biggest reasons why the Three Lions got so close to winning the Euros last year.
Pickford will likely remain England’s number one in the World Cup in Qatar, but Ramsdale is a phenomenal goalkeeper too. If he’s asked to start a game, he’s more than good enough to do what Pickford does.
It will be interesting to see if the 24-year-old Arsenal man will get any action at all at the World Cup.
