Jubilation at Emirate – as agent of £70m star is now in London Colney to listen to Arsenal offer – Player set to earn £250,000-a-week at Arsenal
Arsenal have been told to offer a £250,000-a-week contract proposal to sign West Ham United star Declan Rice this summer, as per the transfer insider Dean Jones.
It is an open secret that the Gunners are keen on strengthening their engine room this summer and have identified the 24-year-old as their primary target.
It has been reported that Rice wants to move away from London Stadium in the upcoming transfer window to take the next step in his career. So, he has rejected several contract proposals from West Ham to sign an extension and it seems Mikel Arteta’s side are planning to purchase the midfielder by taking advantage of this situation.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has said that Arsenal haven’t agreed on personal terms with Rice yet but they know how much they will have to spend to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The journalist further claims that Mikel Arteta’s side will need to offer a financial package of around £250,000-a-week to persuade the midfielder to join the club as the Englishman could get £200,000-a-week salary if he were to sign a renewal with West Ham.
Rice to Arsenal
Jones said:
“In terms of making progress on personal terms, all they have at the moment is an awareness of what his expectations are. They haven’t actually agreed anything.
“There’s an understanding of what Rice is earning now, what he’s projected to get if he was to stay at West Ham, which isn’t going to happen, and what they need to pay. So, at the moment, I wouldn’t expect that to be less than £250k-a-week. He could get £200k-a-week if he was to stay at West Ham.”
It has been suggested that Arsenal are set to submit an official proposal worth up to £92m to sign Rice after the Hammers’ Conference League final against Fiorentina.
However, it has been suggested that West Ham want at least £100m to let their star man leave this summer. So, it is going to be interesting to see whether David Moyes’ side accept the Gunners’ opening proposal or stay firm on their valuation.
Rice is an extremely talented player and would certainly bolster Arsenal’s midfield department if the North London club manage to secure his signature in the upcoming transfer window.
