Jubilation at Old Trafford as Man United set to complete their first signing after verbal agreement reached yesterday, Medical already scheduled and Agent flying to London to seal deal permanently

Manchester United have been trying to lure Mason Mount for quite some time and reports indicate that the Red Devils are set to eventually get him from Chelsea.

As per today’s version of The Mirror (news image provided below), the Old Trafford outfit saw a second bid worth £50million rejected by the Blues, who have been demanding a mammoth fee of £70million for their prized asset.

The famous British media outlet have mentioned that after holding further talks, the two teams are now close to reaching an agreement worth £60million for the transfer.

It is reported that Man Utd have agreed a contract that will make Mount earn £200,000 a week, £52million in the next five years.

The 24-year-old has won the UEFA Champions League, European Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea.

However, last season, he spent a lot of time on the treatment table and made his last start in the Premier League back in mid February.

Adding to that, his contract is due to expire in 2024. So, in all fairness, a deal worth £60million should be considered very high.

Erik ten Hag can profit from Mount’s versatility as he can play in multiple midfield and offensive positions.

The England international, who has earned 36-caps thus far, only scored 3 goals and provided 6 assists for the Blues in the injury hit last campaign.
