In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Arsenal are eyeing a move for Bayer 04 Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface this January. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are eager to seal a move for the Nigerian striker in this ongoing winter transfer period.
Boniface’s Impressive Record In German Football This Season
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a fine run of form in the Bundesliga this season after putting in a run of impressive displays as the focal point of Leverkusen’s attack. Boniface has banged in 16 goals and earned eight assists in 23 matches for the German outfit during this campaign on all fronts.
The Nigerian sensation has been a reliable performer in the final third as he is averaging 4.4 shots, 1.3 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 72.1% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Leverkusen will expire in the summer of 2028 which would make it difficult for Arsenal to sign him on a cut-price deal this month.
What Will Boniface Bring To Arsenal?
Boniface is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He can create a few decent openings for others around him and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. The Nigerian forward has done well to prove his worth as a consistent goal-scorer in the Bundesliga this season. However, he has to find a way to improve his passing accuracy up top if he wants to be a success story at a top club like Arsenal.
However, there are some concerns over whether Boniface can maintain his good record in the Premier League. Still, Mikel Arteta can use a player of his skillset to bolster Arsenal’s attack this winter.
At 23, Boniface will only get better with each year which makes him a worthy target for the Gunners to pursue in the long run. He is good enough to offer some healthy competition for Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah at the North London club in the coming seasons. Hence, Arteta should try everything in his power to get a deal done for Boniface before the end of this January transfer window.
