JUST IN: Agent just landed in London in other to negotiate the latest bid tabled by Arsenal – player really pushing for Arsenal move
Arsenal have missed out on Mykhaylo Mudryk, but the Gunners are still active in the transfer window – the latest name to be linked with a move to the Emirates is young Ivan Fresneda.
Mikel Arteta and Edu were desperate to bring in Mudryk. He was their priority target in this month’s transfer window, but Chelsea’s willingness to pay outrageous money cost Arsenal the chance to sign him.
The North Londoners have moved on and Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has revealed Fresneda is a player they are keeping an eye on.
Sky Sports journalist says Arsenal are keeping an eye on Ivan Fresneda
Fresneda is one of the most talented young right-backs in Spain at the moment.
The 18-year-old has been absolutely outstanding for Real Vallodolid. His performances have made him a popular name among top clubs in Europe, with Tottenham and Newcastle United also heavily linked with a move to sign him.
Arsenal have been rumoured to be interested as well, and Sheth has now claimed on Sky Sports that Fresneda’s agent flew over to London last week to hold talks with multiple Premier League clubs.
It hasn’t been revealed if Arsenal have held discussions about signing him yet, but Sheth believes the Gunners are keeping ‘half an eye’ on him as he would fit in very well under Mikel Arteta.
He said: “One player to keep an eye on is Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda. One of his representatives, we’re told, was in London on Friday talking to Premier League clubs.
“We know Newcastle United have a long-standing interest in him, they’ve watched him several times. But it’s now emerging that Arsenal may just have half an eye on Fresneda’s situation. Would fit the profile for Arsenal as well – young player that could be developed under Mikel Arteta.
“Just one to keep an eye on – it was Newcastle but there are other clubs emerging for that player now.”
Our View:
It’s no surprise at all that multiple clubs including Arsenal are interested in Fresneda.
The teenager, branded as ‘fantastic‘ has the potential to become a star in the coming years. He is good in attack and solid at the back, and his performances have been truly sensational for his age.
Arsenal have enough cover at right-back already with Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares, but with the latter heavily linked with an exit this month, it makes sense to bring in someone who can be developed.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Fresneda in the coming days, but signing him would not be a bad thing at all for Arsenal.
