Fiorentina’s successful pursuit of Arthur could accelerate the exit of Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat, with La Viola willing to sanction their star player’s exit for a fee in the region of £30m.
Vincenzo Italiano has got his man with Arthur, a midfielder who has so far struggled to consistently live up to the potential he showed during his early days at Barcelona but in rare instances has displayed the ability to dominate midfield at Juventus.
There’s a reason why Jurgen Klopp took a bet on the Brazilian last summer, but things didn’t work out at Liverpool due to injury issues.
More importantly, the loan arrival of the talented holding midfielder would allow Italiano to return to his “true love”, the 4-3-3 formation, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport (news image provided below). Further, it’s claimed that following Arthur’s signing, Fiorentina can focus on Amrabat’s departure.
The 26-year-old midfielder is understood to be on United and Atletico Madrid’s radar. Early this month, reports in Italy suggested the Red Devils have already agreed terms of a contract with the Moroccan.
For now, the play breaker is scheduled to return to pre-season training on Monday. But the Serie A outfit are working on finding a resolution to his situation, and are hoping to obtain as much as 35 million euros (£30m) for the Morocco international.
For the above mentioned fee, the Italian side are prepared to close the deal to sell the midfielder to United or the Rojiblancos before next week.
However, La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that in order to sell the African and avoid having a disgruntled member in the squad, Fiorentina will have to lower their demand to the south of 30 million euros (£26m).
Any fee in that region would represent a great opportunity for the Premier League side, who are likely to intensify their interest in addressing their midfield depth after completing the signing of Andre Onana
With Casemiro and Christian Eriksen not getting any younger and Fred and Scott McTominay yet to cement a regular place in Erik ten Hag’s starting XI, the acquisition of a versatile midfielder like Amrabat would greatly improve the quality and balance of the side’s midfield.
