JUST IN: Arsenal are seriously considering signing ‘complete’ £80m talented player to replace Gabriel Jesus – Bid on the table already

Arsenal are once again being linked with a move for Cody Gakpo as they look to replace the injured Gabriel Jesus during the January window.

Gakpo shone in the World Cup with The Netherlands before being halted by Argentina on penalties. However, the PSV man did his own reputation no harm and there is expected to be a clamour for his signature during January.

And according to The Mirror, Arsenal are one of four teams who are considered to have serious interest in signing him.

The Mirror reports how Arsenal see Gakpo as a potential solution to the injured Jesus being out. Other clubs, such as Real Madrid, Manchester United and Newcastle, all have their own reasons for wanting Gakpo attributed to them.

The young forward has emerged as one of the stars of European football right now. His goals, assists, and overall performances with PSV have even prompted Rio Ferdinand to suggest he could be worth £80m.

Dubbed a ‘complete‘ forward for his overall game, Gakpo has also been considered by Liverpool.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is also hoping his links to the Dutch game can give him an advantage in landing Gakpo ahead of the rest.

Our View: Gakpo to Arsenal would be massive

If there is a way Arsenal can beat the pack here to sign Cody Gakpo then there is a big chance it’s a signing that gets them over the line for the title.

Gakpo proved to everyone in the World Cup just why there is so much interest in him. His goals were well-taken and he looked a constant threat in Louis van Gaal’s XI.

The fee won’t be anywhere near the £80m Ferdinand suggests. But if it’s around the £40-50m mark, then as it stands, it looks like a fee worth paying for the Gunners.
