JUST IN: Arsenal now want ‘phenomenal’ £100m man; has 21 goal involvements in just 20 games this season
Arsenal could turn their attentions towards Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after missing out on the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk.
After looking close to getting a deal done for Mudryk, the Gunners were pipped to the post by big spending Chelsea, who offered huge money in terms of a fee and wages.
For Arsenal, the plan now will be to crack on and investigate other options. And according to 90Min, one of those options could be Napoli winger Kvaratskhelia.
Kvaratskhelia, 21, has been in superb form all season and already has 21 goal involvements in just 20 games for the Italian side this season.
The Georgian star has been a revelation since signing from Rubin Kazan. His form is propelling Napoli towards the Serie A title and he’s impressed against the likes of Liverpool in this season’s Champions League.
Kvaratskhelia could prove expensive for Arsenal though. Newcastle were previously told the winger would cost around £100m if they wanted him. Certainly, a massive fee the Gunners aren’t likely to go to just yet.
Lauded as ‘phenomenal‘ by Antonio Cassano, Napoli would have little interest in selling their star man. However, Arsenal will continue to monitor and could try for a deal in the summer.
Kvaratskhelia would be outstanding for Arsenal
This one’s probably not going to happen in all honesty. But in theory, Kvaratskhelia would be a superb signing for the Gunners.
When you look at the top wide forwards in Europe right now, there are few better than Kvaratskhelia. He has everything in his game and at just 21, he has potential to become a truly world class player.
For Arsenal, getting someone instead of Mudryk will be vital. They need more bodies to ensure they can win the title.
So, while Kvaratskhelia remains unlikely, Arsenal fans can still expect a new signing this month.
