JUST IN Barcelona eyeing up Arsenal player for January transfer Who is Struggling for minutes under Arteta this season
Arsenal midfielder Jorginho is among those on Barcelona’s wish list for the January transfer window, according to reports from Spain.
It’s Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo who today features a story claiming that the Camp Nou side look to sign a defensive midfielder in the middle of the season.
Due to Barcelona’s complicated financial situation, they will likely need to go after cheap signings, and that’s where Jorginho comes in.
The 31-year-old has barely played under Mikel Arteta this season, as he only has 18 minutes played in three Premier League matches so far.
Mundo Deportivo points out how Jorginho lost his place since the arrival of Declan Rice, and since his contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season, that could turn him into a cheap option for Barcelona.
The La Liga giants actually have many other players on their list, but it’s hard to imagine one who stands in a more favourable situation for a January move.
Jorginho recently reportedly turned down a transfer to Fenerbahce, and in case he continues not to be used by Arsenal, it’s hard to imagine him doing the same with Barcelona.
