JUST IN: Declan Rice and TWO other Arsenal’s dangerous players missing in UCL squad for a shocking reason
Arsenal have confirmed their Champions League squad for the league phase of the competition.
As per UEFA regulations, the Gunners can select a maximum of 25 players in List A, two of whom must be goalkeepers. Eight of those are reserved for locally trained players.
The Gunners have now revealed their List A squad with new signings Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino, Neto, Raheem Sterling and Tommy Setford, who initially joined as an academy player.
Among the squad list, there was a notable surprise with Kieran Tierney’s inclusion. The 27-year-old has not played a competitive game for Arsenal since last year’s Community Shield.
He spent last season on loan with Real Sociedad. Tierney suffered a serious hamstring injury during Euro 2024 duty with Scotland, but he has returned to individual training.
There has also been a surprise change in the shirt number for Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian, who has worn the no.11 jersey, has been registered with the no.10 shirt.
It is left to be seen whether UEFA have made an error on their website or Martinelli has indeed made a change. Arsenal should provide an official update pretty soon.
Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly are not part of the List A squad.
They can be included in the List B squad which includes players born after January 1 2003 and are eligible to play for the club for an interrupted period of three years or two years with a maximum of one year on loan in the same association since their 15th birthday.
The List B squad can be submitted at 00:00 CET (23.00 BST) on the night preceding each match throughout the competition. Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly are bound to make the list, having been involved in the Premier League matchday squads this season.
