JUST IN: PSG now want to sign ‘phenomenal’ Arsenal player, discussions are ‘already underway’ – imagine what Arsenal will look like without Him

Arsenal’s season is about to get underway once again, with Mikel Arteta keen to protect his side’s five-point lead at the top of the league.

Arteta is building one of the most exciting young sides in Europe, which is bound to attract attention.

A report from French publication Media Foot suggests one of his players has attracted Paris Saint-Germain’s attention.

There are few clubs in the world that are in a position to potentially tempt players away from Arsenal.

The Gunners are one of the biggest clubs playing in the best league in the world, and the project under Arteta is going places.

However, PSG have the likes of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe within their ranks, and any footballer would dream of playing alongside them.

Media Foot report that PSG want to sign Gabriel Martinelli, given the speculation over his new contract.

It would be a huge blow to Arsenal if they were to lose the young Brazilian.

Especially with Gabriel Jesus now unavailable for the foreseeable future after picking up a knee injury.

PSG want to sign Martinelli

The report suggests that ‘discussions are already underway’ with Martinelli’s representatives.

They believe PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is leading the negotiations with the ‘phenomenal’ player.

However, it does look like Martinelli is expected to sign a new long-term deal at The Emirates.

The Daily Mail believe Arsenal are set to triple Martinelli’s wages.

It would make sense to make the Brazilian one of the club’s best paid players given his age and ability.

The suggestion from Spanish publication Sport is that Martinelli is very keen to stay where he is right now.

The likelihood is that even if PSG want to sign Martinelli, he’s going to extend his stay at Arsenal.

It shows just how far the club have come in the past couple of seasons if they can stave off interest from one of Europe’s biggest teams.

The winger has shone at Arsenal, and developed into a player capable of playing for Brazil at a World Cup.

The Gunners are currently having their best season for quite some time, and could achieve something special this campaign.

Martinelli staying put, and extending his time at the club, signals that Arsenal are certainly heading in the right direction.
