JUST IN: PSG now want two Arsenal players, could try to sign duo before January deadline
French outlet Media Foot claim PSG want to sign Arsenal players Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba and could make a move to sign both players before the end of the January transfer window – with PSG feeling they need new signings.
PSG are expecting now to lose out in their battle to lure Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar to PSG. The centre-back is out of contract at the end of the season, but the report states PSG are struggling to convince him to move to France.
Martinelli and Saliba, both 21, are starring for Arsenal. Both are being linked with signing new deals for the Gunners. However, new deals are not – as of yet – forthcoming. That is despite their wonderful form for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Martinelli has had a hand in nine goals in 18 Premier League appearances for the Gunners on the left flank. Saliba has returned after three loan spells away from the club – and has instantly had an impact, with 10 clean sheets in 21 games.
The report from France though, could derail Arsenal’s plans. Both might have their reasons to be tempted by PSG. They saw that the summer will be too late for PSG – and that a move for Martinelli and Saliba could happen this month.
PSG WANT ARSENAL PLAYERS MARTINELLI AND SALIBA BEFORE END OF JANUARY
Martinelli’s future is in serious doubt. He has entered the final 18 months of his contract. A move to PSG would give him the chance to play alongside Brazil teammates Neymar and Marquinhos. So, it is understandable PSG are keen.
Saliba is one of the world’s best young defenders. He is also in the final 18 months of his contract. But surely, neither would want to leave Arsenal when the club are looking so strong and are eight points clear at the top of the table.
