JUST IN: PSG open talks to sign Arsenal star, Neymar is ‘supporting’ move internally
French outlet Media Foot report that PSG have opened talks to sign Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli – and Neymar is pushing for a move to get over the line. Martinelli teamed up with PSG’s Neymar in Brazil’s World Cup squad in Qatar.
Martinelli, 21, is already considered a wonderkid in the Premier League. Clocking up 104 outings in all competitions, Martinelli has produced an impressive 38 goal involvements. It saw him picked ahead of Roberto Firmino for Brazil.
Seemingly, he has left a lasting impression on Neymar. So much so, PSG have opened talks with the representatives of Martinelli to discuss a move. Neymar is said to be ‘supporting’ the move internally, and participating in any future deal.
Martinelli is out of contract in 18 months time but Spanish newspaper SPORT claim that he has already agreed a new deal until 2027. Whether PSG can muscle in beforehand is up for debate, but as things stand, Arsenal can be confident.

Why would Martinelli leave? A crucial part of an Arsenal side that are currently sitting top of the Premier League – and surely a main contender for the Europa League. The Gunners are flying high at the moment, Martinelli needs to stay.
He would be foolish to leave. Whether he is tempted by the lure of PSG, who do boast a number of Brazil teammates like Neymar and Marquinihos, remains to be seen. Maybe, PSG is a move he would entertain a few years down the line.
But as things stand, he needs to stay at Arsenal and keep learning under the guidance of Mikel Arteta. He is shining in England and right now, a move to PSG would be a sideways one – even if would earn more money alongside Neymar.
