‘Just want him’: Darren Bent urges Arsenal to sign ‘unbelievable’ midfielder, says he’d be better than Modric
Darren Bent has told talkSPORT that he would love to see Jude Bellingham playing for Arsenal, even if the midfielder left after just one season at the Emirates.
Bellingham, of course, is one of the most sought-after talents in world football right now. He has been outstanding for Borussia Dortmund. And he further enhanced his reputation with an ‘unbelievable‘ World Cup campaign with England.
It is hard to argue with those who felt that Bellingham was England’s player of the tournament – though Bukayo Saka must also get a mention in that category.
Bent would take one season of Bellingham at Arsenal
Of course, the big question mark hanging over the 19-year-old is where he is going to play his football in the long-term.
Only a handful of clubs can probably afford his reported £130 million price-tag (Sport). And obviously, he will surely only have eyes for the most elite sides in world football right now.
Arsenal are top of their Premier League. And there is absolutely no doubt that Mikel Arteta has got the club moving in the right direction. But perhaps their improvement has come too late for the Gunners to stake a genuine claim for Bellingham’s signature.
Although Bent – who claimed that he would be an even better signing than Luka Modric – has suggested one way which would potentially offer Arteta’s side more hope.
“I’m an Arsenal fan and I would take Bellingham for one season. I don’t even know why, but I just want Bellingham,” he told talkSPORT.
Obviously, it is hard to see Bellingham moving to his next club with the intention of staying there a short while. He could be a transformative signing for his next team.
In fact, there is probably no side in world football which would be able to confidently argue that they do not need Bellingham. He offers so much in midfield.
And frighteningly, he is only going to get better in the coming years.
