Arsenal have suffered a major injury scare ahead of their upcoming Christmas fixtures after Bukayo Saka limped off in their match against Crystal Palace.

The England star, 23, seemed to injure his right hamstring while delivering a cross shortly after the 20 minute mark and was left sat on the turf.

After being treated by Arsenal’s physio for a couple of minutes, Saka headed straight down the tunnel, sparking fears over the severity of said issue. He was replaced by Belgian forward Leandro Trossard.

Saka’s exit was a major dampener for Arsenal, who were leading 2-1 at the time courtesy of a brace from Gabriel Jesus. They have huge fixtures against Ipswich Town, Brentford and Brighton in the Premier League over the festive period.

Arsenal headed into the weekend six points behind league leaders Liverpool, who have also played a game less than Mikel Arteta’s side.

After coming agonisingly close to winning the Premier League title twice in the last two years, Arteta and co know the upcoming flurry of fixtures in between Christmas and New Year represents the perfect opportunity for them to claw back points on the Reds.

Fresh from bagging a hat-trick in midweek, Jesus fired Arsenal into an early lead at Selhurst Park, only for Ismaila Sarr to restore parity five minutes later.

Jesus would restore Arsenal’s lead with a thumping finish from a half-cleared corner before Kai Havertz added a third just before the break after a header from the former had hit the far post.
