Paris Saint-Germain reportedly have a sell-on clause as part of the deal to sell midfielder Manuel Ugarte to Manchester United.
Earlier today, it was confirmed that United and PSG reached an agreement for the transfer of Ugarte, with Fabrizio Romano even giving his famous “Here we go.”
It was stated that the Red Devils will fork out €50m plus a further €10m in variables to have the Uruguayan ply his trade at Old Trafford from this season.
Throughout the summer window, Ugarte was United’s primary midfield target. A report covered by The Peoples Person related that the player was set to undergo his medical today before signing off on personal terms.
According to Sky Sports, PSG went into negotiations wanting the £51.1m (€60m) fee they paid Sporting Lisbon for Ugarte last summer before bonuses.
United managed to convince the reigning Ligue 1 giants to reduce their asking fee.
Sky noted that Erik ten Hag’s are happy with the deal they struck for the combative midfielder.
Ben Jacobs provided more details of the transfer. He wrote on X that PSG have a 10% sell-on. This was arrived at after several United chiefs including technical director Jason Wilcox, jetted to Paris to complete the deal last night.
Jacobs’ information was corroborated by Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
“Been told that Paris Saint-Germain have also secured a 10 % sell-on clause for Manuel Ugarte.”
“As reported: Full permanent deal. No loan with an obligation to buy. Ugarte will arrive in Manchester today. Medical soon. Long-term contract. €50m + €10m add-ons confirmed.”
Ugarte made 37 appearances for PSG, including 25 in the league as they won their 12th Ligue 1 title.
