PAUL MERSON ON ARSENAL WINGER REISS NELSON

Merson said: “Nelson plays a lovely ball across the far post, and there’s Ben White, comes steaming at half-volley, hits it, keeper makes a save, ref looks at his watch, and it’s 2-2. Over the line.”

ENCOURAGING

Reiss Nelson is essentially a squad player at Arsenal, but he did well after coming on as a substitute against Bournemouth.

It is never easy for a substitute to make an impact in a game, but the winger did just that.

Not only did he provide the assist for White’s goal, but Nelson also scored a late winner.

Now, Nelson is unlikely to start the next game for Arsenal, but he showed against the Cherries today that he is a player manager Mikel Arteta can rely on to make an impact off the bench.

Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title this season, and they are also in the UEFA Europa League.

Nelson could prove to be an important player for the Gunners in the final weeks and months of the season.
