Luck was in their side, but why Are they celebrating as if they’re the ones toping the group’: Jurgen Klopp slammed Arteta for the celebration He did yesterday

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Arsenal were simply better than his side in one key aspect of the game yesterday.

The Gunners eventually saw off Liverpool by scoring twice late on as a Virgil van Dijk mistake allowed the home side to seize the initiative.

The game itself was a strange one in some ways. Liverpool went in to the break at 1-1 having not had a shot on goal and both teams were guilty of not being at their best in different areas of the game.

And speaking to Viaplay after the game, Liverpool boss Klopp admitted his side were second best in one key area of the contest.

Jurgen Klopp says Arsenal were better than Liverpool in on key area
Speaking about his side’s performance, Klopp conceded that the Gunners simply outdid his team in terms of getting chances at goal.

“We didn’t play enough football but we found a better way into the game, step by step. 1-0 down, we had a few moments that we found into the game. One of the stats which never lies is shots on target. In the first half we had none but a goal, which is strange. In the second we had one, no goal. In that department definitely Arsenal were better than us. Definitely, no doubt that. The second half was an open half and if we let the game go [at 1-1] a little bit longer then our changes have a different affect,” Klopp said.

An off day
This was just one of those days for the Reds really. In previous weeks they’ve been dominating teams and creating chance after chance and against the Gunners it just never happened.

Liverpool will come back and be fine but it’s good that Klopp recognises something like this in the immediate aftermath of such a big game.

To be fair to Arsenal, they stifled Liverpool with some of their pressing and the way they set up.

Klopp will go away, assess, and in the future, Liverpool will likely be better for the experience.
