Man Utd Star has ‘made it clear’ to Erik ten Hag he won’t accept bench role, set to leave in permanent deal – Not Garnacho

Manchester United star has ‘made it clear’ to Erik ten Hag that he will not accept a role on the bench at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has some big decisions to make regarding his goalkeeping department this summer, after David de Gea confirmed he was leaving the club some 12 years since he arrived.

The United boss has lined up Inter Milan’s Andre Onana as a replacement, with the 27-year-old set to move to Old Trafford in a deal worth £43 million plus add-ons once personal terms have been agreed.

Onana would become United’s second signing of the summer after Mason Mount agreed a £65 million move from Chelsea earlier this month.

Negotiations are not expected to be difficult between United and Onana, but should a transfer fall through, Henderson, who has been at United since 2011, could act as a decent alternative.

However, the 26-year-old is unwilling to play second fiddle to Onana and has allegedly made that clear to Ten Hag.

Henderson won’t accept bench role at Man Utd

Henderson has returned to training at Carrington after spending last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, and is likely to be a part of the squad to face Leeds in Oslo on Wednesday before leaving for a pre-season tour of the United States next week.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Henderson has made it clear to his manager that he doesn’t want to be on the bench this season.

In turn, he is expected to complete a permanent move to Nottingham Forest worth up to £20m once Onana joins United, claim The Athletic.
