Man Utd takeover: Sheikh Jassim has ‘slammed the Glazers’ as documents being prepared to be signed now
Manchester United takeover candidate Sheikh Jassim has criticised the Glazers behind the scenes, according to reports. The Qatari billionaire seems to be in pole position to seal a takeover of the club. However, with nothing yet signed, the situation remains open to change.
According to The Athletic, Sheikh Jassim has privately expressed a belief the Glazers have ‘underinvested’ in United.
That’s no surprise, with the family not putting a single penny of their own money into the club since their takeover back in 2005.
And Sheikh Jassim also feels there is ‘plenty of work to do’ at United if they’re to become the biggest force in the country once again.
Little is known about the mysterious figure, who often prefers to keep a low profile.
But he’s attracted by the idea of owning United because, according to the publication, he ‘likes to own nice things’.
What’s more, it’s stated Sheikh Jassim is indeed a big fan of the club and watched every single match they play.
While that’s the case, however, the Qatari billionaire has made it clear he won’t overpay to become owner of United.
The ‘winds have shifted in the Qatari’s favour once again’, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe seemingly losing ground in the battle to make a purchase.
Sheikh Jassim’s camp are apparently preparing ‘transactional documents’, so a takeover can go through immediately if their bid is accepted.
Yet he’s described as being ‘cautious’, with the Glazers yet to indicate a preferred bidder.
A source says: “He sees lots of deals but he’s pretty sceptical and prudent with what he does.”
