Manchester City now join Arsenal in race to sign 29-year-old free agent – personal terms already agreed with Man city

Manchester City have shown an interest in signing Borussia Dortmund ace Raphael Guerreiro amid links to Arsenal.

Arsenal may now face a battle with Manchester City for the signature of Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro.

That is according to The Sun, who claim that Pep Guardiola is considering launching a move for Guerreiro

The Portugal international is out of contract this summer and has decided to leave Dortmund on a free transfer.

Bayern Munich are hoping to secure Guerreiro’s signature, though trading Dortmund for Bayern would be a little controversial.

Guerreiro is thought to be on the radar at Arsenal too.

Dean Jones reported just a few days ago that Arsenal have been looking at Guerreiro ahead of a potential move.

We just saw Manchester City beat Arsenal to the Premier League title and Guardiola may not hope to repeat the trick by beating the Gunners to Guerreiro.

Raphael Guerreiro makes perfect sense for Manchester City

Guerreiro’s versatility will be very appealing to City.

The 29-year-old can play as a left back or in midfield, with his quality on the ball appreciated in both roles.

That’s especially appealing to both Arsenal and City given the way they use their full backs

Both Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta like to bring their full backs infield to aid with build-up play.

Oleksandr Zinchenko – a midfielder-turned-left-back – has featured in that role under both Guardiola and Arteta.

Guerreiro fits a similar mould. He can start at left back and drift into that midfield role whilst being totally comfortable in that area of the pitch.

That’s what City are looking for this summer and Sky Sports even claimed that in August last year that Guerreiro was on the Etihad Stadium wish list.

City may now pounce for a bargain deal, reuniting Guerreiro with his former Dortmund teammates Erling Haaland and Manuel Akanji.
