Manchester United agree personal terms with 20-year-old, official bid imminent

Man Utd appear to be very determined to sign Rasmus Hojlund despite Atalanta slapping a club-record asking price on a player who only moved to Italy less than 12 months ago.

The Gewiss Stadium outfit signed the then-teen forward from Sturm Graz with a view to providing cover for talisman Duvan Zapata.

Mid-way through the campaign, the pacey young goal scorer had established himself as the side’s first-choice striker and ended the term with 10 goals and 34 appearances to his name.

The 20-year-old’s impressive breakthrough season in Serie A is now being reflected in Atalanta’s valuation of him amid interest from United. As per Football Insider, the Italian side are demanding £60m for the Denmark international.

The figure would represent a club-record transfer fee for the Bergamo club, whose biggest export so far is Cristian Romero. The Argentine centre-back completed a permanent switch to Tottenham Hotspur last summer in a £42.8m deal.

However, United, who are set to sign Andre Onana in a £42.8m+ deal, need to ‘balance their finances’ and would prefer cash plus players exchange. They are looking to cut ties with multiple first-team stars during the summer transfer window.

It’s understood the Red Devils have submitted a proposal that includes at least three players in part exchange for the Dane during negotiations with Atalanta. But the Serie A outfit are insisting on a straight-forward cash-only deal.

Despite the tricky situation, negotiations are set to continue between the two clubs, as Hojlund has made it clear he wants to move to the Theatre of Dreams. Football Insider claim there’s already a ‘verbal agreement’ over personal terms between the Premier League side and the 6’3″ front-man.

It must be noted that the 6-capped international only netted a goal more than Anthony Martial, who made 29 appearances for United last term.
