Manchester Utd prepared to submit £77.5m offer to finally sign midfielder – as Ten Hag wants another Midfielder who can challenge Bruno Fernandez for the starting spot

When Erik ten Hag arrived at Manchester United, his priority was to sign Dutch international, Frenkie de Jong, from Barcelona.

After failing to do so, he opted to lure veteran DM, Casemiro, who helped us earn a place in the Champions League last season.

However, the Brazilian international is past his prime and has spent majority of the time on the treatment table this term.

On the other hand, summer signings, Amrabat and Mount, have not been able to excel in the midfield at Old Trafford.

In such a scenario, the midfield conundrum must be resolved and reports suggest that once again, Ten Hag has turned to his compatriot.

According to Spanish source, Nacional, Man Utd are prepared to submit an offer worth £77.5m (90 million euros) to finally sign De Jong.

The Catalan news source have mentioned that the Red Devils want to take advantage of Barca’s economic problems and offer £77.5m to convince them to offload the Oranje midfielder.

Moreover, the English giants are also willing to offer De Jong a salary much higher than what he is currently earning at the Nou Camp.

He is one of the best deep lying midfielders in the world and Man Utd desperately need a player like him in the center of the park.

De Jong excelled at Ajax under the guidance of Ten Hag but it is reported that the 26-year-old does not want to leave and hopes to stay with Barcelona for years.

In your opinion, who should Man Utd sign to reinforce the midfield at Old Trafford?
